I've loved animal crossing forever. When I was growing up, I was heavily influenced by my older siblings. With both of them being 7+ years older than me, as a kid I naturally thought they were the coolest. I remember playing games like sonic adventure and melee on their consoles before I could even really read or understand the point of gameplay. So many hours of wandering aimlessly on those maps. Animal crossing was a really novel game to me growing up because it appealed to that laid back exploratory vibe that made me love video games. I have kept up with the series and owned all the mainstream games since the gamecube release, though I really only keep up with my gamecube and wild world files (I consider those the strongest in the series.)
